# Adding/changing post date in theme

 * My blog is [http://www.gamecrimes.com](http://www.gamecrimes.com) and I just 
   made some posts yesterday to try the theme out but the date shows up as November
   2008? Why is this? How do I fix the dates to make it the current date?
 * Also, for the “Recent News” post, which is automatically the latest post I make,
   it does not show a date. How do I put a date there?
 * The theme by the way that I am using is this:

 * That November date is hardcoded in the theme’s index.php file.
 * You want to use the [template tag](http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags),
   [the_time()](http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_time), to display the
   date for both the Recent News and to replace that November date.
 * The WordPress Default theme’s wp-content/themes/default/index.php file has an
   example of using ‘the_time’.
