    The reason I opted to do this was as a fail-safe method of clearing certain areas without introducing more markup or classes. Introducing more css selectors increases risk that a theme will inadvertently effect styling.

    It’s definitely obsolete, but I imagine it may have fixed a few problems before they cropped up.

    Definitely something to keep in mind though and is well worth revisiting. Thanks very much for your concern!
