# Cleaning up the database

 * I’ve got quiet a lot of plugins into my blog which caused a notably decrease 
   in site response at the front and the back end of my blog, while my other blogs(
   on the same host) are on high speed.
 * I tried deactivating all plugins, use the default theme to compare the speed,
   and it is still very slow.
 * I think some plugins left some mess on the database or so, how could I clean 
   it up?

 * Oh yeah. Many if not most plugins will leave orphaned entries behind long after
   they are gone. If you want to clean out the mess look in the `wp_options` table.
   This goes without saying but be very careful. If you’re not comfortable with 
   editing the database directly you can try this plugin called [Clean Options](http://www.mittineague.com/dev/co.php).

 * Hey thanks, I’m scared of using it though, because I can no where find any info
   if that is wp 2.5 compatible. I guess I’ll just backup my whole database and 
   experiment with the link you gave ^^,
