• Every now and then RSS feeds from various WordPress sites I manage will mysteriously break. Sleuthing down the issue will reveal that someone has pasted in a sometimes-invisible non-ASCII character, usually a non-friendly token from Microsoft Word.

    I’ve looked at some possible solutions like this:

    However, would be great if someone had a plugin to do this, in order to set it and forget it. Or perhaps just some filter in the functions.php.

    I wonder if anyone has stumbled upon a turnkey solution to solve this annoying issue.

    I should add that the problem characters are inevitably in the actual post or page content. I’ve seen plugins that sanitize titles and permalinks, but I’ve found that they are less the issue.
