How can I remove unnecessary and unwanted items from the SiteMap page? Specifically, all of this stuff:

    Posts
    Categories
    No categories
    Tag Cloud
    Authors

My website has no Posts, Categories, Tag Clouds, or Authors. So I’m a little puzzled as to how all of these ended up in the SiteMap to begin with. ???

I also need to remove a couple of “test pages” from the Sitemap listing that aren’t intended to be viewed by anyone but the administrator (me).

Are you suggesting I should create an html page from scratch?

WordPress already creates the SiteMap, it’s a built-in function of the WP software. I just need to know how to fix it. I was assuming there’s a set of configuration tools somewhere in the dashboard. Just can’t find them.

Or alternatively a plug-in replacement for the poor WP sitemap?

Oh I get it now… No, I don’t want to add a google map to my website. I want to fix the Site Map. A site map is an outline of all the pages on the website. It’s even a ready-made page template in WordPress.

plugin slow the system and they always give your too many options which you want to delelte but you have no access to them

    @bobthearch

Are you certain that the sitemap is being generated by WordPress and not an SEO plugin you are running?

I’m not using an SEO plugin. But it could be a feature of the theme. Thanks for bringing that up. I’ll look into it.
I’d give a link but the site isn’t live yet. The theme I’m using is WeaverX.

Yes, if this is an html sitemap generated using a theme template and visible in page for human viewing then you would need to contact the theme author. Perhaps it would be possible to create a child theme and drop in a modified sitemap template without the additional clutter.

FYI, SEO plugins like WordPress SEO generate xml sitemaps, which are important to ensure the indexing your site by search engines.

Based on the code in the Editor, I have determined that the sitemap is indeed part of the Weaver Xtreme theme and not a feature of WordPress itself. So I’m taking the question to their support forum and marking this topic “resolved.”
    Sincere thanks for your time.

No problem at all. Best wishes with resolving the issue with the theme author.
