Support » Fixing WordPress » clean archives okay, now trying to do the same for categories

  • I’ve spent a good amount of time trying to sort this out, without luck. It would be great if somebody here could give me a hint on how to proceed.

I use the Clean Archives Reloaded plugin, and it works like a charm. As my weblog is more than five years old and there are some 2,000 posts, the simple listing of titles and dates by category works best.

However, if you click on a category name or a tag at the bottom of a post, you get taken to the category.php (or the equivalent for tags) page, which is cluttered and worse: you get three posts per page, in summary. If a given category has 100 posts, that’s going to be a long process.

I can think of three solutions, but not how to do any of them.

    1) if the category links went to the part of the main archives where that category is listed, everything would be fine. That would just bypass category.php

    2) A plugin like Clean Archives reloaded, but for categories and tags. Haven’t been able to track one down.

    3) full revamping of category.php and tag.php, which is way beyond my skills.

Am I missing something? Is there a way for me to fix this without taking a couple years off my life?

    Any help much appreciated.
