This may be relevant to my earlier question. According to your plugin page the latest release 1.6.3 was last updated 3 days ago. My most recent 1.6.3 CE update is 4/2/23. Is that correct? And again is it compatible with the WordPress latest 6.3 release? thank you
If you take a look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/ you can see it has been tested with 6.3, so it works with the latest version.
And yes the Latest Version is 1.6.3 which was last updated 3 days ago
Thanks for your reply. According to my plugin library, I have version 1.6.3 of the Classic Editor Plugin. l have not received an update for this plugin since April. When I look in the plugin directory on the server, the classic editor files are dated 4/2/2023. Am I missing something here?
Thanks again for your quick reply. BTW: I updated to WordPress 6.3 last night and all seems well. Please assure me that I do have the latest version of this plugin, Classic Editor, and, if not, how can I get it.
Hi @hmabpera, Releases can be updated after they’re released. When this happens there’s normally no code-changes, it’s likely just a change to the description/metadata for WordPress.org.
In this case, 1.6.3 was released on 2023-03-29, and then on 2023-08-10 the release was modified to update the tested up to number.
The only way you can know this happens is either a) The last updated date increasing, or by looking at the “Developer Log” which is linked to from https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/#developers that shows changes to a plugin. In this case you’ll see a ‘Tag Classic Editor 1.6.3’ 5 months ago and the tested up to change 5 days ago.
I hope that helps!

Thank you, Dion. I am not a plugin developer but I think I do understand. I amassured that the actual plugin software which I updated in April is actually 1.6.3 Classic Editor and the only change to this release after WordPress 6.3 (8-10-2023) release was a no-code change indicating only the tested up to WP 6.3. I am relieved to know that I really do have the latest and greatest version of Classic Editor. Excellent explanation. Well done!
