    Hello Experts,

After registering and activating the account, the email which contains the user detail and passwd is coming in spam folder and it contains from “wordpress@mydomain.com” , which is really ugly.
I do get the activation email correctly in the inbox. my email mechanism is ok and working good, please advise.

  • Howdy bsatsangi,

Okay, if I understand correctly, some of the email sent from WordPress lands in your inbox (activation, for example), but other messages like user details are getting shoved in your spam folder?

Well, I’ve a few questions, such as:

    1. Who is your email provider? Is it the same hosting account as the website?
    2. Do you have an SPF record setup for your domain?

If you don’t have an SPF record setup, definitely do this as SPF is an important way that many mail servers screen incoming email.

SPF is basically a DNS text record that tells the internet which servers are allowed to send mail on behalf of your domain. Especially if you’re using a third-party mail service like Gmail or Outlook.com/Office 365, but it can also be important if you’re using your hosts mail servers too.

    and it contains from “wordpress@mydomain.com”

This is standard behavior, but luckily, it’s not hard to change the address and name that your WordPress site uses when sending emails. The easiest way to do this is using a WordPress plugin like WP Change Default From Email or Custom Email Options, but there are several others available too.

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks Eric.

i was able to get it work with wp-mail-smtp and spam issue is fixed but the other major issue is I am getting 2 emails after account activation, one is welcome email that is expected and other is passwd change notification which is quite ugly.

    please advise.
    cimy version 2.7.1
    wordpress version 4.5.2

    Thanks.

    [ No bumping please. ]

    Hi bsatsangi,

Not sure what would be causing that. Do you have a security plugin installed, or maybe a membership plugin of some sort?
