  • Hello! My daily posts have not been posting in chronological order since 12/26/19. I have manually resorted the posts from 12/26/19 to 1/9/20 on the Main landing page, except for the most recent post on 1/10. I did that in WP-Admin on the ALL Posts area using a Plug-in.

    You can see that the 1/10/20 post is posted in the second spot, after the 1/9/20 post.

    ALSO, since the 1/10 is the last/latest post shared, there should be no “NEXT” post when you have opened it. It is the last post so therefore, there should only be a previous post. A “next” post doesn’t exist because it hasn’t been posted yet. The Next button takes you to a post that was written weeks previously.

    How do I correct this? Is it a theme issue, which is Heuman? There have been several updates since this issue started.

  • From what I see via your RSS feed it seems WordPress is aware of the dates and is respecting those so I’d swap out my theme for a more generic theme to see if the problem appears there or not. Something like Twenty Thirteen would be my choice.

    If the generic theme works properly then you’ll need to ask the theme author for help…

    I temporarily activated Twenty Thirteen and the sort issue was still present. I switched back to Heuman – I was nervous that it would lose all my settings, etc.

    I’m not sure where to go from here. Would you like me to keep it on Twenty Thirteen to see it yourself?

    Well, let’s start with the cache plugin. Disable that just in case.

    I’m still not convinced it’s a WordPress issue so let’s disable all the plugins and check again if it wasn’t the cache… and if that doesn’t cure the problem then swap the theme out temporarily again with the plugins still disabled.

    I’m a little concerned about how you changed the reorder on the main page as that should have been your blog’s ‘loop’ in charge of that.

    There’s a plugin called ‘WordPress Countdown Widget’ that works with the date/time mech which might be clobbering the order somehow but I would have thought the loop in Twenty Thirteen would have alleviated that from the equation.

    I’m also a bit worried that something in Jetpack might possibly be causing this (Not that Jetpack is problematic but it does reach into the inner workings pretty far) and your W3 Total Cache could be causing it, too.

    Sometimes a bit of optimization code crunches something together with its neighbor and clobbers a script or timing loop code.

    If none of this helps then run it by your ‘Hueman’ theme author anyway. Sometimes theme authors and plugin authors/developers see things the rest of us miss.

    All plugins are deactivated and the sorting is working! Now I assume that I should activate them one at a time?

    I deactivated the cache and the countdown, and it wasn’t working. I do recall that I added the countdown on the 26th . . . so it makes sense that it may have been the issue.

    I am thrilled it is working now. Phew! I’m nervous about the spam plugins being inactivated.

    Yes, please activate them one by one and check if the issue came again. The moment you see the issue you will get to know which one actually created the issue.
