Chrome initial rendering issues

I have found that chrome is not loading the page completely until I click on a link. It renders the style but none of the text, not even in the links. I read some Chromium support feed that said someone used a JavaScript workaround to refresh the page after load. He said to put that in your general.js file which I cannot find. Firefox works fine. In addition safari is not loading any text in my widget area except the widget titles, not even after a refresh or on different pages. Safari is also not display three periods in a row “…” it displays it as a square. I know this is a browser compatibility mess. Any help on any part of this would be greatly appreciated.
