choose specific featured posts for hueman?

hello, would like to set up either 1 to 3 featured posts on my hueman home page, i see how to do this, but i seem to only be able to select what category i can choose from, i cant pick a specific post

our site has hundreds of posts per category, some way more valuable than others, is it possible to hand select which post gets featured? or is the only thing you can do set up a special category for this and each time you want to change add your current featured post to that category?

and if you go the second route and are constantly changing a posts category will that hurt it from a rankings/seo perspective?
