  • I have my child theme of TwentyEleven setup. I can’t make any tweaks to the dark version of my child theme of TwentyEleven. I don’t really want to mess with my functions.php to create an additional custom css file. I like how WP child themes work and making changes to the child themes style.css file for theme tweaks. Is there a way to have a child version of dark.css with my child theme to edit my changes? Did someone forget that we would want to use TwentyEleven/Dark and tweak it from a CSS file?

  • You know, gordo019, I feel the same way about the Dark theme. I love WP’s ever-improving landscape, but this was a short-sightedness that should have been avoided. I probably lost about 3 hours of struggling production in Dark Mode, only to wind up using ditching it and using the Light Background and making style.CSS edits to make everything look dark.

The only issue is now, I’m trying to figure where the aesthetic calls are from for my “Featured” template… I’ll be darn if it’s not giving me the same fit. Yeesh. 🙂

a few lines, added to functions.php, are needed to make this work:

Twenty Eleven – Overwrite the Dark Color Scheme in a Child Theme
