child theme style sheet not changing

I previously had a macbook which i sold and the macbook had my wordpress files backed up. I got a new laptop which i loaded the wordpress files onto and with bluehost’s help i loaded the files to my new wordpress site (which now has a domain name and a way to do a site back-up thanks to bluehost instead of just a computer back-up). But now when I go into the site after the backed up files have been loaded my theme changes aren’t there. I have a child theme selected and I have even gone back into the backed up style.php and copied and pasted it to the child theme style sheet but nothing on it changes at all. Is there a way to do this and restore what my old site looked like instead of manually doing it all again?
