[Resolved] Child Theme Issue

  • I’ve created a Child Theme from the Responsive theme. Here is the code that I used:
    /*
    Theme Name: responsive-child
    Theme URI: http://www.indoorgolfassociation.org
    Description: Child theme from responsive
    Author: Mike
    Author URI:
    Template: responsive
    Version: 1
    */
    @ import url (“../responsive/style.css”)*/

    THE PROBLEM: The specific template that I used to make modest changes to the Parent Responsive theme (prior to creating the child theme) such as a Header image or modifications to the NAV bar have NOT transferred to the Child responsive theme.

    I’m a newbie to all of this so please feel free to dumb-down any problem solving suggestions!. TIA

    Mike

    Theme settings and options don’t transfer to child themes – it’s the same as changing to any other new theme. You need to redo them in the child theme.

    If you made changes to a file (i.e. header.php), you’d need to move a copy of that file to the child theme.

    It appears that the basic Parent theme template did not transfer as well to the Child theme. Should the template had transferred with the above code?

    Thanks for your help.

    Sorry, I should have caught this earlier – you have a syntax error in this line:

    @ import url ("../responsive/style.css")*/

    It should be:

    @import url("../responsive/style.css");

    After you change that, switch to another theme and then back to the child theme – that’s necessary to make the change take effect.

    Thank you very much. Problem solved!
