    I think I have successfully made a child theme for Travelify but after I installed it it looks terrible! It not anything like what my theme was before and truly doesn’t even fit the template for travelify.

    Here’s the website: ourcloudnine.org

    Here’s what I put in my style.css folder:
    /*
    Theme Name: travelify-child
    Theme URI: http://colorbib.com/wp/travelify
    Description: Child theme for the travelify theme
    Author: Colorbib
    Author URI: http://colorbib.com/wp/
    Template: travelify
    Version: 1.5.0
    */
    @import url(“../travelify/style.css”);
    /*

    Here’s what I’ve put into my child theme folder (I have only edited the style.css):
    editor-style.css
    header.php
    screenshot.php
    style.css

    I added the editor file and the header file after the problem presented itself and it did not change the problem in anyway 🙁

    Please help ~ Thank you in advance

  • I am having the same issue.

    It is not the problem but your screenshot shouldn’t be a .php it is supposed to be a .png which is an image file.

    But the contents of our child theme look good. But what do I know, my site is experiencing the same glitch. Good Luck. Ill write back if I fix mine.

    I basically just fixed my issue by switching back to my parent theme that worked and installing a plugin (Child Theme Configurator) that generates the correct child theme information for me.

    You are right about the screenshot – good catch – I missed typed it -it is a png.
    I tried to reinstall the parent theme and then installed the plug in ‘child themify’ and I entered one thing that I copied out of the editor,css and changed to what I wanted (just the color) and it told me I broke it and it was uninstalling or some craziness like that. 🙁

    And btw When I re-activate the Parent theme everything looks perfect – except the menu is on top of my slider pictures… That is new. But I just really want my child theme to function :/

    When you switch from theme to theme. Often, the main menu can get jumbled. All you have to do is go back into appearance>menu and click back on the main menu that you are using, then save.

    I wish I had started with a child theme for this project I am working on. What I did do is decide that I won’t do any theme updates. My theme is quite old. I don’t think that they would do any updates that are important. So I installed a theme update blocker plugin.

    Good luck to you!

    UPdate*** My folder name was wrong – I made it Travelify child theme when it should have only been travelify-child

    Such a small detail lol – but it cured everything!

    Oh happy day 😉
