[Resolved] Child Theme Importance?

  • Hello,

I’ve begun tinkering with my website via the CSS Custom Manager and editing the Spun Stylesheet.

I’ve been reading about a Child Theme but am lost as to where to start with this and what it is exactly?

A friend set up my website via his hosting/server – would I need to get in touch with him about it?

    Thanks,

    Claire

If you are using a custom CSS plugin and only making changes there, that’s fine. A child theme allows you to make changes to theme files (including CSS in style.css) without losing those changes when the theme is updated.

Info on how to create a child theme here:

You do need access to the site files on the server to create a child theme.

    Thanks WPyogi!

I’ve been editing in both the CSS plugin and the original CSS theme sheet.

I’ll get in touch with who set up the site and ask them to set up a child theme.

    Thanks again!
