    Hi,

I’ve read that it is a possibility, but nothing more in depth.

Are there situations where developing via a child theme (vs coding directly into the parent) would significantly slow down a website? Or generally, is any slow down insignificant? I’d imaging a situation would be css, functions, and some templates in a child theme.

This is just for my general knowledge and something I am contemplating.

    Thanks.

    I never heard of it.

Thanks. I have read on a couple blogs that it may slow down the site, but they really don’t say why beyond there may be some extra calls. However, not sure how much more there would be vs. if you had just coded into the parent.

    – just select a good parent theme and follow the codex I linked above to create a child theme. It should be ok.
    – If you are looking for a free theme, see WP official theme repo: https://wordpress.org/themes/
