Support » Themes and Templates » Child theme first in hierarchy?

  • All,

I created a child theme and have my style.css in play and this child theme is active. There are some features that I would like to edit out and there is a feature.php file within the theme. I copied, uploaded the feature.php file to my child folder and then edited it to see if changes would be captured i. They are not.

Doesn’t WP look to the child folder first to see what is there? I modified the feature.php file within the child folder . . .completely removed a section between div tags and yet there seems to be no impact to my pages. What am I doing wrong? It doesn’t make sense to me.. .

Btw, does my site need to be visible to the world while I am making all of these edits? Is there a way to block temporarily?

Brandy new. . looking for help.

Sadly, not all themes use get_template_part() to load portions such as feature.php.

What’s the theme your using as a parent? If it’s located in the WordPress theme repo someone may be able to help you out.

I’m using flexibility3 but they have a ton of ads in the header and footer to contend with. . . I’m new to this but willing to learn. What does get_template do? Must read again. . .sleepy. . .did not comprehend. Thanks for your response.
