Child them kills all styles

    I’m having trouble with my child themes on all my WordPress sites. WordPress 3.0, on MAMP (Mac OS X), Apache (port 80), MySQL (port 3306) so the site defaults to http://localhost/

    If I have a style.css file in my child theme’s folder with just the template info and @import to call the Parent stylesheet, all is well.
    As soon as I type anything else (after the @import line) it will kill my page style. Whether it’s correct css or just a period, the page defaults to un-styled.
