For the third time in about two weeks, I’ve received notification from my hosting company that the permission for wp-content/uploads/mainwp and mainwp/backup were set to 777. Three different sites. Is this a bug, a feature, or a sign I’ve been hacked?

That it is the current behavior for the Backup folder. Permissions will be adjusted down in an upcoming Child version.

If you are using one of the Backup Extensions you can change the permissions without issue.

If you run into any problems just open a ticket on the help desk and a support staffer will help.

We have changed the permissions in version 3.1.5 to 755
