That is a visual example of what I have now. What i did was add the links to those forums manually to my parent forum description:

I am using Alternate Forum template 1. Yet the default bbPress template appears to have an option for what I would like (sample on the right):

So I have:
Meeting Schedule Assistant (Category)
Midweek Editor (forum)
Custom Templates (child forum)
Custom Templates – Samples (child forum)
Monthly Workbook Information (child forum)
I would just like those child forums listed (ideally with the counts) automatically rather than we add manual links.
