Checkout tickbox is opting people out

    Hi there!

    I have the checkout tickbox turned on, with GDPR support enabled.

    People who have already opted into my mailing list are being opted out automatically. This happens when people who are already subscribed purchase something on my website. If they don’t tick the opt-in box at checkout, they’re previous opt-in for email is suddenly disabled.

    All of these people still show as a subscriber but are no longer opted-in for email communication.

    Is there a way to prevent this problem happening? Is this a bug or a misconfiguration on the website?

    Just to add: They’re not directly opting out of my mailing list by not ticking the checkbox (it doesn’t say opt out). These people just aren’t ticking it because they’re already on the mailing list and don’t think they need to opt-in twice.

    Hi @rd78, I appreciate your patience as we have researched this in detail and are unable to reproduce the behavior you’re experiencing. Can you provide the versions of Woo, WordPress, and the plugin just to make sure there’s not something out of line there? Also, is there another plugin that may be in play with how subscribers are updated in Mailchimp?
