Hi @presson2022,
By default, the WooCommerce checkout block doesn’t support the username/password field, as explained here.
If you’d like to give your customers the option to input their username and password, you can use the checkout shortcode or the classic checkout block.
I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard. You created WooCommerce. You created the shortcode. That shortcode works for users to create a username/password at checkout yet your new blocks doesn’t include that? Then that makes this function 100% useless. You can give your higher ups this message too because it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. What a pointless function. Why even put it in there. It’s crap like this that will end your reign as a viable option for ecommerce within WordPress. Sad day for all WooCommerce users.
Hi @presson2022,
Thank you for sharing your feedback and understand your concern.
The new WooCommerce blocks are designed to enhance the user experience with streamlined interfaces and improved performance. However, we understand that the absence of the username/password field in the new blocks might be inconvenient for some users.
It would be great to have you add your ideas as a feature request, which is where developers go to look for future plugin features and improvements.
You can also create an enhancement request here on our GitHub repo so our developer can check it and provide further insights.
In the meantime, as suggested, you can continue using the WooCommerce Checkout shortcode or the classic checkout block for the username/password field.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please feel free to ask if you have any other questions or concerns.
Just a quick update, a feature request has been submitted about this, over at GitHub (#45794), and the related documentation on what is currently possible with account sign-up while checking out can be found linked here.
We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
The documentation states that if you have the Checkout Block and the Inner Block of Contact Information then the checkbox will be shown to allow users to create their own account. This is seriously flawed. This allows users to bypass creating an account. The previous shortcode doesn’t do this. This is crazy how they are doing this and will not work.
Not only does it not work but any custom fields still won’t show up. Huge flaw and why you create this way is beyond me. Huge fail.
