Chateau Theme – No Options under Appearance!

    HI all,

    Please help as I’m a newbie! I installed Chateau after installing WordPress.org and there is supposed to be an area on my Dashboard with APPEARANCE – OPTIONS, where I can have multiple layouts, post formats, custom colors and backgrounds etc and there is NO “Options” tab in “Appearance.”

    When I click on “Manage Themes”, it says that Chateau only gives 3 widgets but in the http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/chateau/ , it shows many options and widgets. I bought it and it doesn’t give any of those options.

    Can anyone help me figure out if I did something wrong? My site is:

    I don’t think you did anything wrong.

    The version of Chateau that wordpress.com offers has more features that the Automattic theme team adds in. This is usually the case with many of the themes there compared to their counterparts outside of wordpress.com. One thing to keep in mind is these modifications were made for users of the wordpress.com service. With a typical WordPress.com account, you don’t have access to tweak themes the way you can when you self host, or install plugins for that matter. So it’s possible that some of those additions are made to help bridge that gap, or maybe bring feature parity with other themes at wp.com.

    Thanks Josh. It’s a bit confusing when they show you a theme and then say “buy it” and then it doesn’t have the same features. I guess I’ll try to find some plug ins that can give me the same type of options. Since I’ve already installed wordpress.org, I want to stay with it rather than go to WordPress.com. I appreciate your clarification!

    Does anyone know the best plug-ins for giving me multiple layout options, multiple post formats, custom background etc?
