I posted a question on the forum and was emailed by Jane Tancino at fixrunner dot com with an offer to fix my issue for $20. I don’t believe that’s the purpose of this forum. [moderated] I hope someone will address this before it gets out of hand.

    Thanks!

What was the forum account of that person?

Another moderator had warned Fixrunner about soliciting support off the forums before, and it is unfortunate that now things have escalated.

They contacted me directly by email, rather than responding via a post. Sorry, I don’t know what their forum account is. Thanks for responding!

To clarify, the WordPress.org forums are contributed to by volunteers and it is meant to be kept that way. The only way you’ll receive a reward on the forums is through a ‘thank you’, and so we strongly discourage people who are using the forums to make money here.

It is sad that some people use the forums to make money rather than to be genuinely kind.

However as a last resort, if it turns out you do need professional support we will forward you onto official avenues such as WP Jobs and CodePoet.

    Thank you!

Same thing happened to me except for $49. I just saw another posting that said they are getting contact info via the whosis look up and soliciting with that. searched fixrunner

I was just solicited by email by Jan Tancino of fixrunner.com as well, after posting a problem in the How-To & Troubleshooting forum today. I find that annoying, but I realize it is not WP’s responsibility. Except maybe to step on them/her.

Unfortunately, yes, it seems to keep happening – but there is nothing anyone here can do. It’s a public forum and if they use it to find emails or contact info on websites or whois to contact people, that’s beyond anyone’s control. WordPress can’t “step on them further” – what they are doing is not illegal even if we don’t like it. If anyone from that company registers an account here and posts that kind of thing on the forums, we do close/block them.

Best you can do is ignore it :)!

Almost always I ask for help but do not give urls. Now I remember why not…

I have asked some help today (17feb2015), unfortunately with url.
The point is that I am buiding a site for someone else. This person received today a message statyng Fixrunner would help for a usd 49 fee.

My name is Kathleen and I’m with fixrunner.com WordPress support experts.

I am new here. I have already received help and I am happy with. But this e-mail from today to my client is relly unpleasant, it frights me….

    some homework…
    they are still registered here:
    https://profiles.wordpress.org/fixrunner/

Yep, we’re not happy with things like that either – but as I said above, there’s nothing anyone here can do about it. And often, if you need help here, someone needs to be able to see your site.

Sorry it’s happened to your client. I’d suggest simply ignoring any emails from them.

That account is not able to post anything on these forums.

    ok. thanks for your reply!

but if they are blocked… do they still have access to info here?

I thought it was a public forum, but only members could read messages……..

I donot know why, but I can not edit my message that shows my customer url.

Is it possible to you as a moderator to erase the url from this message?

It’s not necessary to be a member to read the forums.
