• I am in the process of discovering this great plugin, currently mainly with the submission part, which I find an extraordinarily useful function.

My website runs in Germany, so I was happy to be able to change the captions of the submission form to my language and needs. “Select a category” is still in English – could this be changed by working on a translation file? I would be willing to engage on this, if it is not too complicated and time-consuming.

I am also happy to be able to provide the text for approval and rejection mails. However, I couldn’t find where to edit the text for the automated Email “Link Submission Confirmation”, only where to add additional text in the body. I would also like to edit the sender for this mail (currently wordpress@mysite.com) and the subject-line, like for the other mails. Did I miss the place where to configure that?

Finally, I observed that the emails sent out through this plugin can’t display particular German characters (like ä,ö,ü,ß), I reckon it will be the same for the French é,è,à etc. Is there a setting where to change the characterset for all mails to UTF8? I think this should it by default, but if it could be set individually, it would certainly be an asset for the international folks out there. Not true, see Edit below

Many thanks in advance for your help!
    Chris

    Edit

      :

No issue with the characterset – seems to be a wrong setting in my Thunderbird. All fine there! Sorry for the wrong alert!

Yes, the Select a category label can be translated using a translation file. But since all other labels in that form can be set in the admin panel, it would probably make more sense to be able to set this as well. I will get to this in next couple of days.

For the submission confirmation e-mail, all text in that e-mail can also be translated using a translation file.

Actually, if you are interested in a german translation, check out this thread since the user is also using link submission form and said he would work on a german translation.

For the sender e-mail address, I just released a new version to use the e-mail specified in the general settings under moderation, if set, like the other e-mails did.

For the character set, glad it is not an issue.

Yes, the modularity of your plugin with the possibility to adapt the tags is clearly one of the big advantages of your plugin. So why not apply the same functionality to the submission confirmation e-mail as well instead of relying on a translation file?

Concerning translation: I have contacted the user in the mentioned thread, let’s see what comes out of that. I understand from other threads that there is just one file (.pot) with the captions to translate? If so, where do I find this file and whom should I submit the translation to? Sorry, never did that before, and if you have a link to a tut or general information on this subject, it will be appreciated.

A suggestion concerning the layout, just for optical reasons: on the submission form, it would be nice to have the fields a bit further right, to leave more place for the captions (other languages tend to have longer words than English 😉 ) Also, the “select a category” menu appears to be lower in height than the other fields of the form. This is not very important, but could contribute to a nicer perception in general.

Contribution is in process – thanks for your great work!

Nice. Once done, you can export the .po file and add it to the languages directory of the plugin. Have you already gotten the strings translated to German for your site?

Hi – I have a similar problems with Danish characters in the “thank you for you submission” mails – @cmqcmq, what do you mean by Thunderbird settings?

I use a html template for emails with wp better emails – is that possible with link library mails?

    Thanks,

    Lars

No, it is not possible for the e-mail to be written using another plugin for better HTML.

Not sure what he meant by Thunderbird setting. Which mail client are you using to read your e-mails?

Sorry for late reply – extremely busy these days.

In fact, my problem is not really resolved neither. In Thunderbird, one can force UTF-8, and this makes the plugin mails readable. However, other mails start showing strange characters.

When reading the mails in the Gmail interface, everything looks fine.

Honestly, I don’t really know where the problem is, but if you give me a lead, I am willing to check it up.

    Cheers

    Hello Yannick,

Is there any way if someone post a job on our website, and the admin can approve the post to be visible by just the email, instead of opening the wordpress everytime ?

So, as soon as the job is posted, the admin will receive email and he/she will approve/reject through email and the post will be visible/hidden.

Waiting for your reply, thank you in advance.

Hi, are you trying to avoid having to visit the page and making a decision on that page, or avoid having to log on to the WordPress admin?

For security purposes, the best practice is to have the link go to the WordPress admin and only process the request if the user is logged in.

That being said, I could add more direct links to directly accept or reject the new item without any need to click on further UI elements. Would that satisfy your request?

Yea , we are just trying to do some of the automation so yea we are trying to avoid login into the WordPress. The concept of adding more direct links to accept or reject the new item sounds awesome and satisfactory to us and might be much helpful.

It would be great. Much appreciated your response. Thank you.

    Looking forward for your reply.

    Thank you once again.
