Support » Plugin: Better Click To Tweet » Character length and quotation marks

Happily new to the plugin (thanks for the help with headers) and I have two questions.

    1. Character limit: it looks like the character limit still reflects Twitter’s old limit (at least in the settings description). But I see that I can use more characters – what is the accurate limit?

    2. Quotation marks: I see in the forums that using quotation marks is what causes the box to show as blank, is there any workaround for this?

Hi there! Welcome to the plugin!

    1. The character limit is now the 280 characters from twitter. If you include a link (which is the default behavior), the remaining characters are 253. I need to go in and change that in the settings description. Thanks for the heads up on that.

    2. You can use single quotes in the tweet text, or use the html entity code for quotation marks. [bctt tweet=”A nice "qoute" for you.”] will render correctly on the front end and the tweet itself.

The only caveat with that approach is that those characters count against the overall 253/280 for the tweet text. I don’t currently have a workaround for that part of it.
