 * I’ve been trying to install wordpress with network solutions for some time.
 * NS sets up WordPress in a sub-directory instead of the root. I found through
the WordPress.org help documents this document: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPres…s_Own_Directory](http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPres…s_Own_Directory)
which mentions about moving the files to the root. NS put them in [http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress1](http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress1)
Who the heck wants wordpress1 in their URL when they pay for [http://www.mydomain.com](http://www.mydomain.com).
Honestly this is my first WordPress site so it’s a little bit of a learning curve
for me. My question is: how do I remove the /wordpress1? I followed all the steps
   that NS gave me:
 * First, I installed wordpress under the folder wordpress1 (you have to choose
a folder because it doesn’t use the root directory. I did not click ‘use this
   folder as the wordpress homepage’.
    1. After installing wordpress I went into
the dash board and changed the url in the settings from [http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress1](http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress1)
to [http://www.mydomain.com](http://www.mydomain.com) 2. I logged back into NS
and changed the directory of the site to [http://www.mydomain.com//htdocs/wordpress1](http://www.mydomain.com//htdocs/wordpress1)
   3. I waited and nothing happened
 * I talked to several techs and finally they passed me to someone who flat out
said I could pay $59 to premium support and they would do it for me. Needless
to say, their customer service support is AWFUL.

 * That is precisely what you should have done 🙂 Had you done so, you would access
it with the domain name only.
 * NS sets it up this way in order to keep the root of the account “tidy” for when
you add more sites to it; each in their own folder.
 * As I am not familiar with NS’s hosting control panel, I can’t say how to fix
this, but on plans that uses cPanel (a brand name of hosting control panel),
you would simply create a new “Add on Domain”.
