Support » Fixing WordPress » Changing URL of blog to old blog

  • Hello,
I recently exported my wordpress site from to a self-hosted blog.
My SEO guy insisted on us having our own self-hosted blog instead of one hosted by so we made the switch.
However, we need to have the URL from the blog, because the URL on our blog is completely unrelated to our store.

The blog hosted on is – is hosted by Volusion so we are unable to install wordpress directly into our site because Volusion does not support php files.

  • Do you have access to your domain? If so, you should be able to set a DNS record to point to your hosting server. You’d need to have the ability to add a hosting account as well, but it is definitely possible.

Or is it the other way around, I add a DNS record within wallsrepublic and point it to primewalls where my self-hosted blog is?

Sorry I am not very good with technical stuff.

For the DNS records at wallsrepublic, if you login you should be able to set an A record. It would look something like this:

    Source: blog
    IP: yourserverIP

You could then setup a hosting account for and use that for the website, without affecting your Volusion site.

Thank you for your help. I think I figured it out – I just need to get access to adding a hosting account.

    Not a problem! Good luck!
