 * Hi, I realize that I’ve already posted about this in a separate topic but considering
it is old now and features many posts by me I thought I would try and be more
concise and further ask for help.
 * I have tried essentially every possible way to make this work, but am asking
to see if there is anyone else who can help me out.
 * I have a website hosted on my godaddy account (for domain registration and webhosting),
in a separate folder that looks like this: variedcelluloid.net/vcinema
 * Now, my friend bought a separate domain through godaddy that points to the easier
   vcinemashow.com
 * Now, I can use godaddy’s URL masking option but when you navigate around the
site all of the variedcelluloid.net/vcinema links/images are readily apparent
   and they confuse readers.
 * We want the entire website, with all of the internal links, to point to vcinemashow.
   com, ie: vcinemashow.com/php?=1, etc.
 * Now, to do this I have tried everything. I tried the Change URL option in settings
but as you may know, that just kills the website and instantly logs you out and
   catches you in a loop.
 * I then went into mysql queries like the codex article points out. I attempted
every kind of query I could find, but no matter what I ran into trouble.
 * With some queries, I can manage to actually get the internal links to pointing
to vcinemashow.com/php?=1 and such, but I might remain logged out of the dashboard.
Then I would play with things long enough that I would fix the dashboard, but
then the internal links simply pointed to variedcelluloid.net/vcinema/php?=1
   etc.
 * The last advice I was given was to start over from scratch, have godaddy create
my subfolder for me then reinstall wordpress and it would fix things, but unfortunately
that didn’t work out for me.
 * Since I can sometimes manage to at least get the URL’s to show up correctly (
despite the graphics nor the dashboard working), I have to imagine that this
MUST be something that can be done in wordpress or the database. I could be wrong
and I have read vague things about CNAME’s and such, but I do not understand
the few bits I have read on that topic.
 * I ask once again for some help, outside of just a simple reposting of the codex
article on changing a site’s URL. I appreciate any help I can get, thank you
   so much!

 * Don’t use URL forwarding, that’ll cause plenty of problems.
 * Instead, add the domain to your hosting account and follow this guide to move
   WordPress:
 * [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)
 * Then, use this plugin to change your internal links and images:

 * When you say “add the domain to your hosting account”, what do you mean? Godaddy
has a “domain management” tool that I’ve used that has the option to add a domain,
which I did, and point it to a subfolder. Are you saying that removing the URL
forward will cause this option to not work?
 * I’m not physically moving the wordpress install, if I can help it, so what part
of that guide should I use?

 * Some hosting provider call that an “Add-on domain”. You’ll have to contact your
   hosting provider for details.

 * If you want WordPress to be at a new location, then you need to move it to that
location. That’s why it’s not working.
