• I am using the theme-switcher plugin on my site and I have installed many premade themes. I have named some of the theme folders myself. When the theme-switcher plugin shows the link to change themes, it shows the original name of the theme. For example, a theme called ‘gum’ by its creator (I named the folder its in ‘Chewing Gum’) shows the link to change theme as ‘gum’ instead of ‘chewing gum’. This was a better example. I have themes that have really long original names (named by their creators) and I dont want such a long text link on my site.

Is it possible to rename the original theme? Or, is it possible to change the link of theme switching?

P.S: The themes work perfectly. I just dont like the long names :/

  • I would imagine that if you change the folder name and nothing happens, that you needs to open the ‘style.css’ of each theme and change the name there.
If that does prove to be the answer, it might be useful to keep the original name on another line in that section of the css so others can see where it came from should they like it.

It is not the folder name that is displayed but the line from the top of CSS file that says:
    Theme Name: Gum

It is infact the Theme Name: in the CSS file that controls it. And if you are renaming it, presumably you’ve made some cusomizations to it any ways. When ever I mod an existing theme, I make sure I add an acknowledgement in the description some where, giving the orig author’s URL and original theme name.
