# changing theme names?

 * I’ve noticed in the page source of some themes that they’ve changed the theme
   name to their site name.
    src=”[http://www](http://www).**sitename**/wp-content/
   themes/**sitename**/
 * Is that what their doing? Why is that necessary? Or is it just optional?
    And
   are they just changing the name of the folder and uploading it?

 * For example, if you are using a [child theme](http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes),
   you can name your child theme whatever you want.
 * Or if you design/create/develop your own theme, you can name it whatever you 
   want.

 * i assume these people are doing it as a kind of ‘corporate identy’ – to point
   out that the theme is custom-made/customized for their site.

 * ideally, they would also change the theme name in style.css.

 * So..I’m new to this WP thing.
    Are you saying they are buying a WP theme, then
   customizing it and changing the folder name? And, the css name?

   even others might programm their own theme from scratch – often starting with
   a photoshop graphic design …
