Changing the way the Avatar and Vatar Names are displayed

When I add the Author Avatar widget the widget displays a list Avatars that are cropped together. However, when I add the DISPLAY NAME option, that list of avatars is NOT CROPPED but listed vertically. The Avatar and Avatar names dont appear next to each other, but they appear one on top of the other. *How do I change the widget so that the authors avatar and his/her name are displayed in a crop od images and text?
