 * hi
 * Please can somebody tell me how I get WordPress to read my installation from
   a different folder instead of from the root?
 * at the moment my domain looks like [http://wimbornevideoclub.co.uk/vcbut](http://wimbornevideoclub.co.uk/vcbut)
   I want to drop the vc when it is being searched for. I have already tried several
   methods including changing the site URL and WP URL in the backend of WordPress,
   changing the WP_config.php, function.php, none of which have worked and I’m running
   out of options!
 * I have only just started using WordPress as I have been using Joomla! for the
   last 5 years. I don’t really want to put the WordPress installation in the root
   as I might want to install other instances of WordPress on the same server.
 * I am using WordPress 3.8 and from what I can see from other people’s advice on
   the Internet and YouTube one of these methods I have tried should have worked
 * Thanks in advance

 * You can have multiple websites on the same server within your hosting account,
   all loading from their individual root. Imagine this scenario:
 * [http://examplea.com](http://examplea.com) loads from /your/hosting/sites/examplea.
   com/
    [http://exampleb.com](http://exampleb.com) loads from /your/hosting/sites/
   exampleb.com/ [http://examplec.com](http://examplec.com) loads from /your/hosting/
   sites/examplec.com/
 * I’ve dealt with clients who have nested WordPress installations all stacked on
   top of each other and it ends up being a big jumbled nightmare.

 * but I would still like to know how to change the URL the site being shown in.
 * It’s something I have always done in Joomla! with a every installation going
   into its own folder.
