Support » Theme: Baskerville » Changing style.css in the theme editor does nothing

  • When editing my style.css in the WP Theme editor, the changes does not affect my page. This seems to be because the theme editor edits the file style.css, however the theme seems to call a different file: “style.css?ver=2.1.4”.

How do I either make it call the file style.css, or find the file style.css?ver=2.1.4 so that I can edit that one?

    Hi @sebhes,

style.css and style.css?ver=2.1.4 are the same file – the ver parameter is simply appended to inform plugins and browsers when the file is updated, so they can refresh their cached versions of the file.

Cache is also the likely culprit for why your changes aren’t taking effect. Also, if you make changes directly to the style.css file, those changes will be overwritten the next time Baskerville is updated. If you want your changes to persist, you should either create a child theme or add them to the Additional CSS field in the Customizer.
