 * I failed to backup my database before changing servers and am wondering if there
   is any way to recover the database.

 * That’s a question you should ask your former host. We cannot do anything about
   it. Ask them if they have a backup of your mysql database…

 * For others in my predicament, the only way to retrieve blog posts when failing
   to backup your database is by typing site:mysite.com (using your url) in various
   search engines and looking at the source code for each post found in the search
   engines. Fortunately, my blog was listed in the search engines so I was able 
   to find cached pages for most of my old blog posts.
 * Of course, the best bet would be to make sure you back up your database so that
   this will not happen to you….
