Changing servers and new URL, how to update database info? (8 posts)

I have changed servers and I'm going to have my WP installations on another domain name. How do I go about making sure everything is set to go? Here is the info I get when I go to desireebaker.com/memories:
    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.
Thought I go straight to the horse's mouth so I can get this done quickly.

No, not before I moved it. Wish I would have known that. Wah!!!! Any other ideas?

  4. What did you move? The files only? Or the files and the database?

Apparently I only moved the files, because the databases are not showing up in My SQL. I can see the config files, but I do not know how to go from there. I'm computer language stupid.

I made a back up of my whole site, and the new hosting company extracted the files. I'm thinking they didn't extract everything that they were supposed to. Anybody else have a thought?

Okay, I found my old SQL files. Now I just need to know where to put them and how to edit them to fit properly.

  8. Now go to this section of the Moving WordPress documentation and start from step 4, or start the entire process from the beginning.
