 * Hello i had to change my server for hosting my wordpress blog. I had installed
the wordpress backup plugin which had generated an sql file for importing.
 * In the new server i have imported the sql file and simply untared the same files
as was on the original server. Now on the new server i get the error “It doesn’t
look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.” how do i solve this?

 * Yes I have followed all the procedures mentioned there. My blog is at [http://mutt.in/~prash/blog](http://mutt.in/~prash/blog)
<– as you can see doesnt load.
 * When I logged into mysql and did `select * from wp_options` the screen started
filling with -‘s and +’s, it did not show me the contents. would that be the
   reason?

 * Maybe try using character set of file to latin1 when restoring sql database.

 * i used to have the DB on mysql 4.1 on the previous server which had CHARSET=latin1,
but the new server runs mysql 4.0.x which does not support CHARSET, so i removed
the CHARSETs as per a link google gave me. is there no work around without using
   CHARSETs?

 * that was the very link that i referred to before. I have replaced `DEFAULT CHARSET
= latin1` with nothing and then imported the script into mysql. Still the problem
   exists.
