changing post status moves post within calendar

When posts are in draft or pending review status, I like to drag them around on the calendar to plan out the schedule. But then when the post status is changed, it changes the post date back to the current day. Is there any way around this so they can stay in the same day on the calendar that I want to schedule them for? Thank you!
