# Changing post category from uncategorized

 * Hi All, I am new to posting here. I have not been able to find/figure out a solution
   for my issue. I noticed in my development installation, after upgrading to 3.9.2,
   when I change a post category from uncategorized to another then when the post
   is saved, both the new category and uncategorized are both assigned to the post.
   I reverted back to a 3.8.4 backup I had – same problem – as well as a clean (
   manual) install to 3.9.2, with nothing but the default plugins and TwentyFourteen
   theme. I do not have this problem with 3.9.1. Not sure what changed. I did delete
   the WordPress file structure and database, each time I did an installation.

 * What menu/option are you using to change the Category? I think you would just
   need to uncheck the ‘uncategorized’ category box.

 * Hi saracope, I go to Posts; I then click edit or quick edit (doesn’t matter) 
   on the post I want to change the category; I uncheck Uncategorized and check 
   the category I want; then I click save. The post still shows Uncategorized and
   the category I want assigned.

 * This issue has been resolved. I ended up reinstalling everything from scratch,
   again. This time everything worked and is still working. Thanks. Sorry for the
   late follow up.
