Changing Permalinks without showing 404s on previous structure

I am using http://www.my-site.com/archives/301/ permalink structure. Now I want to use mysite.com/month/day/year/post-slug structure. I am afraid that doing so I will loose the visitors coming from other blogs linking to my individual posts. Is this possible to use new permalink structure and redirect users to new url whenever they access archives/postID ?

Go to the file editor in WordPress, copy your .htaccess to a file in your computer and save it.

After that, go to Permalinks tab in Options, and change the permalink structure (and save it). At last, paste in your new .htaccess file the old one you saved in your computer.

If you still having problems, or want to ask something more; do it 😉
