Changing Number of Columns in Blog Widget

Hi,

I am using a blog widget to display the posts in one particular category. Its actually a custom widget that I edited but it’s 90% the same as the default blog widget, I mainly just changed the loop so that it would only fetch posts from one category.

Anyways, I would like the blog widget to display my posts in more than 3 columns, how would I go about doing this? I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty with the php, but I just don’t know where to start.
