Changing my site to a network

  • Hi everyone! I run GamingAngels.com and we are going to be re-designing to sub-divide the topics so we get the following:
the network corporate site is shesgeekyinc (does not have to be in WP)
The following sites have to be in WP:
    GamingAngels
    PulpAngels
    GizmoAngels
    GeekAngelLife

I am thinking that a transition to MU would be great for this because I want one user to seamlessly log in to any of the sites and be able to visit/comment on any of the other sites. I also want to use BuddyPress and have only one forums for all the sites. Each site will have it’s own design but may be the same template.

    My questions are:
    1) Am I correct to think MU is the best solution?
    2) I am technically capable, but this is a major project for us (GamingAngels is well known in gaming industry), that I don’t want to f it up. Is there a board of people that can be hired to do this?
    3) We are on a host that does nginx instead of Apache. Is that a problem for MU?

Thank you all for your assistance!
    Trina

I also want to use BuddyPress and have only one forums for all the sites.

BuddyPress is a social network. It is not a forum.

It *has* forums, but they are attached to groups. If you just want ONE forums, then install FORUM software.

    1. yes
    2. jobs.wordpress.net
    3. no, nginx is awesome

Andrea_R, thank you so much! I hope to learn enough, but I don’t think I can do it myself reliably. Too many people depend on this to go smoothly.

    thank you for your help!
