I’m having trouble finding what CSS controls this, so I can change it in a child theme. Any guidance there would be appreciated.

Or is it an option in one of the menus? I didn’t see something like that when I went looking, but I’ve been known to miss details that are staring me right in the face.

    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Pressing F12 will get you some browser-based tool for inspecting the html that’s currently loaded.
You can use an “element locator” (= little button top left) to click any element in the browser window and the proper html element will show in the tree in your inspection tool. To the right, you’ll see the applied css-rules – including the entire tree, and in what css-file these are located.
    Happy hunting.

    Hey Matt,

Please post a link to your site. Thanks!

Thanks, I actually knew that trick already, I’ve just been having trouble pinpointing the exact values to change (I’ve gotten some really interesting effects, just… not at all what I was looking for). Still, since there’s apparently no expert with the Responsive theme floating around to point me at the exact place, I’ll just have to persevere.

Unfortunately, the person I’m working for is strongly opposed to other people looking at the code, because they’re afraid they’ll “steal the idea” (even though the idea isn’t even hinted at yet, much less implemented…). It’s terrible because I think I really bit off more than I can chew here, but I guess that’s what I get for offering to help a friend out as a favor without getting the details first.

Anyway, thanks for the replies, both of you. I appreciate that you tried, but it looks like I’ll just have to figure this out on my own. Chalk it up as a learning experience, I guess.

Still, I’ll leave this open for another day or two just in case I don’t figure it out and a Responsive expert does wander through and feel like imparting wisdom.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Check file /wp-content/themes/responsive/style.css
Then from line 1195 onwards, there is a bunch of menu-related stuff.
