I want to change the standard pixel size of “Medium” images to say.. 600×450.
    I am using webp

To regen the images and webp, do I do BOTH
    1) Existing Images Optimization, and then
    2) Bulk Generate Webp Files

Or will option 1 handle resize generation AND webp?

So I cant change the image sizes. Not sure if this issue is WP standard or SG Optimizer… or I just dont understand

    I have iPhone images. 4×3

In the “Media Gallery” or just the image size selector when in the content…

Default it sets Med to 300×225. Large is 980×735

For me, one is too small. the other too large

    So I want 600×450

I change that in the standard WordPress Medium settings section. It now says 600 and 450 for medium.

    I regen’d all

Back to “Add Media” pane or inserting.. still shows Medium at 300x 225

Very frustrating. Can someone help me understand?

Seems nothing I do can get me an image that is 600×450

Marking as resolved. But for those who are confused by this.

Challenge: I wanted to change size of Medium Image. I chose to use that as my in-content size (some posts I had to edit after all this was done)

Changed the WordPress value: Under Settings | Media

This will NOT change your existing images. SG Optimizer will not do it.

Downloaded free plugin: Regenerate Thumbnails. I chose the setting to blow out my unlinked images. I checked manually and did have a couple busted articles. I simply brought up the little image editor, changed the size from med, to something else, and then back.. and it worked.

So now I have resized images.

NOW I ran the SG Optimizer “Existing Images Optimization” to generate even smaller default images.

Then I ran “Generate WebP Copies of New Images” and creatd the webp versions

Use this at your own risk!

Just to add, regenerating the WEBP images is completely safe and you should do it every time you regenerate thumbnails using the same thumbnail name but with different size.
