[resolved] Changing font size of links under featured post images (7 posts)

I just started using Styles: TwentyFourteen.
I never used the Styles plugin before. I usually prefer to change the code in a child theme, but for some reason I find this harder to do in TwentyFourteen, so I downloaded and activated both Styles and Styles:Fourteen. I started changing some of the font sizes and font colors in the side bar, which all works very well, but can't find where to change the font size of the links in the featured post grid (the capitalized links under the featured post images). Is there a way to do this in Styles:Fourteen or should I do this in a child theme?

    Hi Cath,

Sorry about that - I'd completely missed those elements.
Just update the plugin to address them. The options are under the Featured Content Styles tab.

    Regards,

Wow, I'm impressed with your responsiveness, Zulf!
Great, how fast you solved this! This is a great addition, especially when one changes from the 3-featured-posts lay-out to the 4 one, the original featured links font seems totally oversized, so it's wonderful that we can adjust that now.

Another thing that I couldn't find (maybe it's there and I just overlooked it) is where to change the font size, type and color of the Tag-line. I did find the Site title font size and type under "Header", while the Site title font color is under "Colors", but the Tag line font size, type and color? If I may add a suggestion - I have no idea how much work this involves, but I think it would look really cool if the Site title font size and type moved from "Header" to "Site Title & Tagline" and the site title color likewise from "Colors" to "Site Title & Tagline", and then add the Tagline font size, type and color there too.

Another suggestion would be to add the possibility to get rid of either the Site Title or the Tag line, instead of keeping either both or removing both, as is the current setting. In previous Twenty lay-outs it made sense to couple both, but given the location of the Site Title and Tag line in Twenty Fourteen it could make sense to keep the Tagline without the Site Title, for example when one includes a header and logo above the menu bar then an image Site title can be placed right above the Tagline within the header, in which case the text Site Title becomes redundant. One may also choose for SEO reasons to keep the text tagline, even if the site title is an image within the header.

    Hello Cath,

Thank you for such a great feed back and for the suggestions. They are all good suggestions.

As for the Tagline - the settings for that is located under the "Menu - Secondary" tab. I know its odd but that's how the theme is structured with the tagline located in left sidebar instead of the header - had to follow grouping convention!

As for grouping them under the existing Title & Tagline tab, at the moment the way the plugin works there's no facility to hook in to pre-existing locations hence the new locations. Need to do some research on this can best be handled so as not to cause too much confusion :)

Going back to the suggestions - The title and tagline workings are handled by the theme in conjunction with WordPress core function display/hide option. I'm sure there's a filter in there somewhere that can be used to hook in and manipulate the function - just need to research on it.

Lets see what a good number of cups of coffee can do :D

    regards,
    Zulf

Ha, I see it now! Sorry, "Menu - Secondary" must be the only place I didn't check. Sorry!
