Support » Themes and Templates » Changing Font in Child Theme not working

  • I am very new to wordpress and have been reading books and online instructions and I can’t get it to work. I created a child theme and found all the instances of the font-family in the original CSS file and copied that and put a new font-family in the child CSS file and the font didn’t change. I’m using WordPress 4.1 running Twenty Fifteen Child theme.

    Can someone help me?
    Thank you!!

  • Can you post a link to your site with the child theme active?

    Sure. Here it is. Thank you!!!

    ONLY CHILDREN PROJECT

    When I look at your site (2:13pm, Mountain time), I don’t see that code in your child theme’s stylesheet. This is all I see:

    /*
     Theme Name:   Twenty Fifteen Child
     Theme URI:    http://example.com/twenty-fifteen-child/
     Description:  Twenty Fifteen Child Theme
     Author: Fredda Gordon - child part only
     Author URI:   http://www.freddaphotography.com
     Template:     twentyfifteen
     Version:      1.0.0
     License: GNU General Public License v2 or later
     License URI:  http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html
     Tags:         light, dark, two-columns, right-sidebar, responsive-layout, accessibility-ready
     Text Domain:  twenty-fifteen-child
    */

    Did you receive any errors when editing or uploading your child theme’s stylesheet?

    No, I didn’t get any errors. I went under APPEARANCE and then EDITOR and pasted it (I typed it in Dreamweaver first to have a copy) and then hit update and it said it was saved successfully. I then went to view and it hadn’t changed.

    I just looked at it and its still there. I hit update again and it said File uploaded successfully again.

    Can you post your child theme’s functions.php? If it’s longer than 10 lines or so, post it to Pastebin instead and post the link here.

    I don’t know how to post the file that’s online but this is what I uploaded. How do I access the one online?

    <?php
    add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘theme_enqueue_styles’ );
    function theme_enqueue_styles() {
    wp_enqueue_style( ‘twentyfifteen’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’ );
    wp_enqueue_style( ‘twentyfifteenchild’, get_stylesheet_uri(), array( ‘twentyfifteen’ ) );
    }

    The one online hasn’t changed (and I’m guessing you know that since I don’t know how to access it)

    Also… I emailed the host who said this was the problem:

    [In order to resolve the issue, I have flushed the static cache for your account ]

    The font still hasn’t changed.

    Oh, wait! Yes, it did fix the problem!! The font has changed!! Thank you for your help!!!
