• Hello – How do I set the featured image ratio to 4×3 or 3×2 ? The current ratio (16×9) is chopping off took much of the image.

  • Hi gordonovan,

thanks for using MH Newsdesk lite.

You could create a child theme and then modify the existing image dimensions as you like: How to customize image dimensions in WordPress.

    Thanks
But this is asking for MH Squared Child Theme – not the MH Newsdesk theme

    Hello –
I changed the MH Squared Child to MH Newsdesk-lite but still getting an error.

    Name
    MH Newsdesk Lite Child Theme

    Description
The parent theme is missing. Please install the “mh_newsdesk-lite” parent theme.

    The Theme is already installed.

Gordonovan, what you can see in the child theme tutorial is just an example, it doesn’t matter for what theme it is because you of course should create your child theme for the parent theme you are using. If you don’t know how to create child themes, you also might want to have a look at this: https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

In general theme customizations and custom development is beyond the scope of this free theme support forum. If you’re not familiar with coding, you could for example hire someone who can code customizations based on your requirements.

    MH Themes –
Perhaps you can you at example, read above and see it doesn’t work. Then answer question properly instead of your snarly answer. Maybe they should hire someone to help people instead of you being just rude.

I guess you didn’t have a good holiday.

@gordonovan, I’m sorry that it came across snarly. I think what @mh-themes is saying is that this issue may not be resolved on the forum. Rather than have you wait for a long time to resolve the issue here, there is an option to receive an immediate solution by hiring someone.

@gordonovan: What we were trying to explain is that you are using a free theme and we’re happy to provide free theme support through this forum. But if you’re not familiar with coding and are requesting help with customizations or custom development, that isn’t something we can help you with here.

As Andrew mentioned correctly, we just wanted to let you know that if you need help with coding and can’t do it by yourself, probably the best solution is to hire someone who can help you create a child theme based on your requirements. When it comes to custom coding, we can only point you to the available resources and tutorials, which we did already.

Good morning – thanks for your response.
    A. I don’t need to hire anyone.
    B. This is a support a forum that I was directed when I asked a question.
    C. My question was never answered and the answer I was given had incomplete instructions – to something I did not want to do. I did it anyway and it did not work.
    D. I redid twice and still did work. Instead I changed the hard code and my solution. But I still wanted to resolve the directions that did not work, to know for future reference. Or your code/instructions are incomplete.

    Thanks

@gordonovan: Again, if you’re familiar with coding, you should be able to code a custom child theme without issues as it’s quite a simple task. If your child theme doesn’t work as expected, then you’ve obviously done something wrong. The resources in the WordPress Codex explain everything you need to know, here it is again in case you’ve missed it: https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

We told you this before, but it seems there still is a misunderstanding regarding support on WordPress.org. Please keep in mind that you’re using a free WordPress software, a free theme and people even spend their own valuable time to answer your questions for free, but we’re now getting to a point where you are requesting support as if you’ve paid $2000 for a website and then get upset if others don’t do the work for you…

Please keep in mind that the people on WordPress.org are volunteers who provide support in their free time. You’re using free products with no special support options included, especially not when it comes to customizations and custom development.

Again, if you’re familiar with coding, you shouldn’t have any issues to code what you want. If you’re not familiar with coding, then you can either invest money (to hire someone) or time to read tutorials and learn what you’re trying to achieve. This really isn’t something others can do for you.
