I tried to change my email ID from now defunct [ redacted ] to current address. I am getting error message stating that the new address is already in use. However, I am not getting notification of new comments.
How do I change the ID to current “already in use” ID?
    Thanks

Is the user that is currently using the email address set up for administrator capability? If it doesn’t have admin capability you won’t receive the emails.

Also if the current user that is using your email address is admin, then you should change the email address for it to something else. Then add a new user for yourself with something other than admin as the name with the correct email you want to use. Then delete the admin user.

    Thank you for quick response.
I am the one who created that @thulika.net ID. Thre is no other person and I was the administrator. I stopped using it long time back. Just to double check I sent an email to that address and got the message that “the delivery failed permanently.”
Actually, I was getting the notifications at gmail ID until recently. Suddenly, this problem started since yesterday.

I sent invite to my gmail ID and yahoo ID and accepted it from that ID. But those names are not showing in my user list. I am not able to create another user.

Now I remember the entire background.
With Yahoo sitebuilder, I started the web site thulika.net and created the ID thulika@thulika.net. After that, I started my blog tethuika.wordpress.com with the same ID.
Now the web site, thulika.net is transferred to somebody else, and to a different server. The new owner is not even aware of the ID thulika@thulika.net. It is noperable because the Yahoo sitebuilder is not in use any more.
However, when I get a comment on my blog at wordpress.com and I click on it, it is taking me to thulika.net, which is not right. That is the main reason I want to get rid of thulika@thulika.net from my blog, tethulika.wordpress.com.

    Thanks.

Resolved after creating a new email ID. However, I am not sure the logic behind not allowing me to use an email ID, which I have been using for another blog.
    Thanks all the same.
