Changing “comments” buttons

  • I have a site at vlpauction.com. We are going to use the blog format to auction small value items for charity, sort of like a list of bids at a silent auction.

    But, I’d like the buttons that read “comments” to all read “bids.” I can’t find the text to change. Can someone help?

    Also, is there a way to make the latest entry the LAST on the page, instead of the first?

  • Re: “comments”

    There are a number of places you’ll have to hit this. For example, with the “# Comments” link on the main, category and archive pages, you’ll have to edit the theme’s index.php, category.php and archive.php, and locate this template tag:

    <?php comments_popup_link(); ?>

    In the default theme it typically is set up like so:

    <?php comments_popup_link('No Comments »', '1 Comment »', '% Comments »'); ?>

    Information on parameters for comments_popup_link() can be found here:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/comments_popup_link

    For the “Submit Comment’ button, just edit the ‘submit’ input tag’s value in comments.php.

    As for your “Also,” can you expand a bit? Do you mean posts on the home page?
